Rollins has several options for industry and sector research: IBISWorld, Fitch Solutions, and Euromonitor. All of these are available on our Business research guide or our A-Z Database page.
IBISWorld provides detailed industry reports for the United States and at the global level. To get started, type your search terms into the search bar, or click on the "Industry Research" heading at the top of the page to navigate by category.
You can navigate through these reports using the sections on the left side of the page. Key sections include "Industry at a Glance," which lists statistics such as industry revenue and profit. "Major Companies" lists the major players in the industry, depending on how the industry is structure. "Products and Markets" situates the industry within the supply chain, linking you to supplier industries and buyer industries. You can also use the IBISWorld.AI feature, represented as a cluster of stars on the right-hand side, to help summarize difficult concepts.
Fitch Solutions allows you to search for global reports for 24 sectors including Mining, Renewables, and Tourism. These reports cover dozens of countries both developed and developing. From the Fitch Solutions home page, enter the name of your country and the industry if you know it. These tend to be quarterly, country-level reports, but there are also some regional reports (e.g., Latin America).
These reports include an industry SWOT, regulatory information by country or region, and regional overviews. You can navigate through the reports by clicking on the different sections in each report's table of contents. These reports typically run between 40-60 pages, but their length can vary.
Statista has some industry data and statistics, although it is primarily focused on market research. If you enter the name of an industry (e.g., fashion) you will find statistics for that industry for many countries around the world, including major companies. Statista also has a Research AI tool that you can have a back-and-forth conversation with. It's useful for questions like "What is the petrochemical industry?", which can give you some insights to use in other business databases.
