To show a movie to a group on campus that falls outside of regular curriculum-based instruction, you'll need something called Public Performance Rights (PPR). Some of the Library streaming media databases already include these. Here's a list of our streaming media databases with PPR information:

  • Academic Video Online
    • All films come with PPR, excluding the Film Platform Collection
  • Films on Demand
    • All films come with PPR
  • Kanopy
    • Some films come with PPR
    • You can find these films on the Kanopy website by applying the "Public Performance" filter to search results. Scroll to the bottom of the filters and toggle "Public performance rights available" on. Note that this toggle will not appear if the search results contain no films with PPR.
  • Metropolitan Opera on Demand
    • No films come with PPR
  • Swank
    • No films come with PPR

The Olin Library also owns DVDs, some of which come with PPR. Here is a list of those films. Click on the title of a movie and check the Local Notes section to confirm that it was purchased with PPR.

Netflix also offers a limited number of titles for educational screening.

If you have any questions about PPR, please contact Elizabeth Fairall, Head of Collections, at efairall@rollins.edu.
